A Casual Update About Lyrics II

A typewritten letter from 'The Casual Rambler' dated October 19, 2026, discussing the success of the first run of 'Lyrics For a Song I Didn't Know' and thanking supporters on Patreon. The author reflects on their journey in writing and announces the availability of their new poetry collection at various retailers.

P.S. More poems are coming to the Patreon. I am also working on an essay for the Portland Trail Blazers (finally). I have a lot of thoughts that have been bottled up over the offseason & have taken up many pages within my journal to express them.

The Casual Ramble–Oct. 19, 2026

Howdy, Casual Ramblers!

Just a quick update for this but one that needs to be made: the first run of copies for Lyrics For a Song I Don’t Know has sold out!

I want to thank everyone who bought a copy in support. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that my words would touch so many people.

I want to thank my Patreon supporters, free & paid, past & present, for sticking by me as I figured out just what I wanted to become as a professional writer.

And I want to thank you who are reading these words by accidental stumble or purposeful search; this website is where it all started, ten years ago, as an exercise in music journalism then a foray into sports commentary & personal blogging before finally metamorphosing into a platform for poetry & creative essays.

It’s not been without difficulties & it’s not been without failure. But past failures have already been given & future failures can be taken in stride.

For now, we are a glow with confidence that we can face whatever comes next. Which brings me to the big announcement: you can now purchase my first ever poetry collection, Lyrics, from Barnes & Noble, Abe Books, ThriftBooks & Bookshop.org!

I still have my direct link to purchase on the website, but will not be able to fulfill any purchases until my next shipment arrives. In the meantime, go to my LinkTree to find a copy from retailers today!

Ramble on,

–The Casual Rambler

P.S. More poems are coming on the Casual Ramble. I am also working on an essay for the Portland Trail Blazers (finally). I have a lot of thoughts that have been bottled up over the offseason & have taken up many pages within my journal to express them.

Thanks again to my lovely Patrons: Jenny, Roshi, Chloe, Christy, Carson, Zero & Phil, as well as all my Casual Ramblers for your support. If you would like to join the Casual Ramble for early access to poems, short films & the like, subscribe via the link below!

About The Casual Rambler

An insane man moonlighting as a respectable member of society from Portland, Oregon. A rock ‘n’ roller since his mother first spun The Police’s “Roxanne,” Ben is a lover of all things independent music. Once upon a time, a friend told him to write about music. So he started doing that under the title of a Willie Bobo cover by Santana. Now he just casually rambles about whatever crosses his mind.
