Lyrics for a Song I Don’t Know is the debut poetry collection by Ben French, also known as the Casual Rambler.
Written, rewritten & cobbled over the course of 16 years, these pages track the evolution of an adolescent lost inside computers & virtual worlds come of age after stepping into the real-world fantasies of the alternative flow arts circuit on the American West Coast.
These are episodes of ecstatic joy, manic confusion & prolonged depression detailing the struggle of a man caught between purpose & language, between the analog & the digital, just to find his creative place among staves, flames, music, keyboards & typewriters marking lyrics for songs he still does not know.
