A Casual Ramble About Launchpads

Howdy, Casual Ramblers!

I don’t usually write down “goals” or the like, because in the past I found that to-do lists stress me out to the point that I do not accomplish any of the items on the list. Last weekend, though, I decided I had too much keeping me busy not to write it all down.

The difference, this time, is that at the bottom of the to-do list, I gave myself space to write down some things that I accomplished that were not on the to-do list. Not as a way to justify distractions, but as a way to celebrate the day-to-day work that is still necessary, but might otherwise take time away from what I needed to do.

Laundry, for example. Or meal prepping. Or meeting to prep a fundraiser for my camping group at the regional burn.

In this instance, the scheme worked. And I found I accomplished most of the to-do list. My living space is reorganized, my library and record collection has been slimmed down, and my friends received long-awaited gifts as I engaged in an early bout of spring cleaning to build myself a new kind of living space.

There’s still more to do; writing needs to rise to the top of the docket again, but now I’m just stealing my own thunder. Read about it all below.

Ramble on,

P.S. If you haven’t read yesterday’s ramble, there’s another large scale protest scheduled for March 28, and a new BLM plan to cut down some of Oregon’s last remaining old growth trees that needs commenting, and that ramble will direct you to where you need to go to organize and comment. You find out how to do so here.

I’d like to give thanks to my wonderful patrons, Jennifer, Michael, Zero and Phil, as well as the many free members of the Casual Ramble. Without you, everything that has been would not be and everything that is to come would not happen. This post was released a week early to my Patreon supporters, if you’d like to receive early access to poetry, short films and other works, you can join the Casual Ramble Patreon via the link below!

About The Casual Rambler

An insane man moonlighting as a respectable member of society from Portland, Oregon. A rock ‘n’ roller since his mother first spun The Police’s “Roxanne,” Ben is a lover of all things independent music. Once upon a time, a friend told him to write about music. So he started doing that under the title of a Willie Bobo cover by Santana. Now he just casually rambles about whatever crosses his mind.
