I’m trying something new here. Mostly in the fact that I am not trying really anything new at all.
Here’s the skinny:
A new short story is now available on the Patreon! It’s called Opening Night and it’s all about my walk to the Rose Garden arena for the Portland Trail Blazers’ season opener. You can grab a sneak peek at this little creative essay on Patreon or wait for it to release publicly on the blog.

Now here’s the fat:
I’ve been hesitant to write about what I do on the Patreon because it felt like I would be doubling up, filling my blog with nonsense content that isn’t even really content. I mean, the short story will be posted here in November, anyways, right?
So why bother?
Well, that’s all bullshit. The real reason I’m afraid of doing it is not even fear. It is because I am absolutely loath to be a salesman. More precisely, I do not want to be an advertiser. To paraphrase the Simpsons, Disco Stu doesn’t advertise.
I try to limit the need as much as possible and instead work on creative things that I can do with my time. Y’know, poetry, flow arts, video editing. But I’m here because I wanted everyone to know that yes, the monthly short stories are on their way and will be coming faster than ever because of something one of my favorite writing channels on YouTube said: write more creative essays.
And sometimes, I need to tell you about it because the very basics of the situation are this:
Your support through Patreon is critical for the continued growth of the Casual Ramble.
Of course, I appreciate all of you who like and subscribe to the blog; this is still home base.
However, if you’d like to get the early access to my poems, short stories, photography and short films, as well as exclusive access to my Patron-only poetry breakdowns, quarterly short stories including my latest, Opening Night, then I invite you to join the Casual Ramble Patreon!
I have some exciting new plans for next year that I cannot wait to announce in November, so stay tuned.
